Battery Cycle Count

Also known as: Charge Cycle Count, Battery Cycles

Direct Definition

The cumulative number of full discharge-and-recharge cycles (discharging a total sum of 100% of the battery’s capacity) that a lithium-ion cell has completed over its lifetime.

How TrueVolt Applies This Standard

When supported by the device operating system or exposed via diagnostic instruments, battery cycle count provides supplementary transparency alongside the battery health percentage.

Technical Overview & Context

A cycle is not counted on every single plug-in. For example, using 50% charge today and 50% tomorrow equals one full cycle. Most modern smartphone batteries are engineered to retain approximately 80% capacity after 500 to 1,000 complete charge cycles.
