Biometric Sensors
Also known as: Face ID, Fingerprint Scanner, Touch ID, Biometrics
Secure biometric hardware authentication components, including capacitive/optical/ultrasonic fingerprint scanners and 3D facial recognition cameras (e.g. Apple Face ID).
How TrueVolt Applies This Standard
TrueVolt guides recommend buyers test biometric enrollment during in-store inspection, as non-genuine screen or motherboard replacements can permanently deactivate biometric security.
Technical Overview & Context
Biometric sensors are cryptographically paired to the smartphone logic board at the factory. If an unauthorized repair replaces the sensor or display without proper calibration, Face ID or Touch ID may be permanently disabled by the operating system.
