Cosmetic Grade
Also known as: Appearance Grade, Aesthetic Rating, Physical Condition Grade
Direct Definition
A standardized classification of the physical, exterior appearance of a refurbished device, describing scratches, scuffs, and frame wear independently of internal hardware performance.
How TrueVolt Applies This Standard
TrueVolt requires sellers to assign transparent cosmetic grades to all device listings so buyers can set clear expectations on physical aesthetics before contacting the store.
Technical Overview & Context
Cosmetic grading evaluates visible surface wear on the display glass, aluminum/steel frame, and back glass. A device with a lower cosmetic grade operates with the same core hardware performance as a pristine device, but is priced lower to reflect its external signs of prior use.
